In Swahili, the inspiration for Zuri’s name means good. They strive to embody this ethos in everything that they do.
Zuri works with an incredible network of fabric vendors in Dar es Salaam and Nairobi to source textiles. Over the years and many hundreds of prints, they’ve learned a lot about how to select fabrics. They have these women to thank for sharing their knowledge and trust, and in doing so, creating such a mutually supportive experience. Learn more about their process and our vendors here!

Everyday Africa started in 2012, and is a collective of photographers whose emphasis on localized storytelling via social media has been a force for correcting journalism’s unbalanced history, providing greater context to international coverage of Africa and promoting the work of African photojournalists. Its viral success inspired like-minded storytellers worldwide to start their own Everyday communities on Instagram, using photography to celebrate local norms and global commonalities, forming The Everyday Projects.
